A secluded yet a living Church

St Thomas the Martyr is a Church of England Church. It became the ‘Chapel of Ease’ to the main parish Church of the area, St Barnabas Jericho, in 2015. But originally, St Barnabas was the ‘grand-daughter’ Church of St Thomas the Martyr when it was built in 1869; the daughter Church of St Thomas the Martyr being St Paul Walton Street (now Freud’s Bar) from 1836 until its closure in the 1950s.

St Thomas the Martyr has services each week, currently a lunchtime service on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12.30pm-1pm. This service is a quiet spoken Mass.

Beginning on Saturday 15 October, there will be a Vigil Mass each week at 5.00pm

The graveyard at St Thomas provides a haven of peace. It is particularly beautiful in spring, when there are many wild flowers and insects alive around the ancient gravestones. Do take your time to enjoy the unrivalled peace of the churchyard.

On Sundays, the Church is used by the Romanian Orthodox parish of St John Cassian
